Katie Wright (Owner, Master Teacher, GYROTONIC®)
Katie Wright has been a certified Pilates instructor for 18 years. She first started her Pilates training in 1994 under the direction of Dolly Kelepecz and became certified through D.K. Body Balancing in 1999. With a passion for dance, Katie began her Pilates career training dancers in the Boston area. After relocating to Indiana in 2000, she became one of the primary Pilates mat teachers in the Indianapolis area and opened Pilates Indy Inc in May of 2002.
After being introduced to Body Arts and Sciences International's (BASI) founder Rael Isacowitz, Katie completed the BASI Certification Program in 2004.
In 2011, she became a host site for BASI's California based program and aspires to be among the world's finest teacher trainers. Over the next few years, she will be assisting courses and apprenticing with Rael. Her dedication to Pilates comes from her passion for the beauty of movement, desire for knowledge, and enthusiasm to help others achieve their maximum potential.
She has taken classes with Pilates greats including Kathy Grant, Lolita San Miguel, Alan Herdman, Mari Winsor, Ron Fletcher, Mary Bowen, and Bob Liekens.
Besides Pilates, Katie has completed her Gyrotonic Foundation Level 1 Training and Certification. She is also certified on the Gyrotonic Jump Sliding Board and is a certified Gyrokinesis® trainer, having worked with Master trainers Debra Rose, Juergen Bamberger, Alissa Seim, and Kathy Van Patten.
Katie has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Athletic Training with a minor in Chemistry from Butler University. A longterm goal is to complete her Master’s Degree in Anatomy from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Katie’s academic training in Anatomy, Kinesiology, and Neurology has helped her accommodate clients with a variety of physical challenges from low back pain to ALS and to cancer.
